Foggy history under the hammer
08 October 2009
An historic piece of racing memorabilia goes under the hammer next week.
The leathers worn by Carl for the 1992 TT race that was recently voted the best in the island's history will be auctioned by Bonham's at the Classic Bike Show in Staffordshire on October 18th. The Loctite Yamaha leathers were produced as a one-off set and are therefore the only ones in existence.
Carl said: "That race against Hizzy went down as the greatest of all time. Steve won the race and I set a new lap record that stood for seven years. The leathers were just gathering dust in the garage so I thought someone might put them to better use."
The leathers were made by Kushitani Manx, in red and white, with Loctite logo in red leather across the breast, back and sleeves, 'Fogarty' in black leather lettering stitched to back, and Yamaha leather logos to legs, also with Dunlop, Motul and Lazer Helmets sponsors patches, with slight wear and showing evidence of race use. For more details please go to www.bonhams.com and search under Fogarty.
